For about one month there has been at least one corncrake on Clare Island. The location was west of the Cille Road that traverses the island from the church to Ballytoughey/Maum.
Today (26th, June, 2020) I visited the island shop, at Cille, and heard a corncrake quite clearly. On speaking to the shop-keeper, Pauric O'Malley (also post-office), he told me that he has heard the corncrake in his vicinity for a "couple of weeks". I think that this is probably the same bird (from the Cille Road) who has moved a kilometer south. I cannot be certain of this. There may be two birds.
