16:45 Wilson's Storm-Petrel:
Single feeding around the floating carcase of what looked like part of a whale, floating past the watchpoint at Brandon Point, at one point around 200 yards offshore. Storm petrel with dark upperparts except wide and broad white rump and fairly conspicuous pale carpal bars. Dark underwings seen clearly when banking. Wings somewhat longer than European Storm Petrel and broader, more paddle-shaped. Flying with typical Wilson's petrel swooping flight, fluttering briefly with long legs extended over carcase. Made circuits about 30 m around carcase, when flight quite direct and low to the water but with swooping swallow-like bursts and deep, relatively slow wingbeats-quite different to erratic fluttering flight of European Storm Petrel.
