08:40 At first I saw what looks like a Sooty Shearwater. Then I noticed that it was all dark. thought it might be a Skua. But then there were no marking and it was flying wrong for a Skua. More like a Shearwater but slower. The body was thin compared to Shearwater and had a longer pointed tail. It was flying in close just off the rocks. Nearly missed it as it was under my scope. It also had drooping wings like a heron. Twisted and turned near a Gannet for comparison it was smaller and thinner. I said Oh F##k. It was darker than a Sooty Shearwater with shorter wings. not so pointed. Kerry Head can be good in the right conditions. The wind must be either sw, westerly or nw and in double figures miles per hour. In weaker winds the passage of birds go from Loop Head to Brandon.
