Moribund on the cliff path. 1st county record. ( 11 year old S. Morrissey along with her mother were out on the Cliff Walk in Ardmore and came across what she thought was a unusually marked small bird. It had arrived in a bad way on pathway on the exposed side of Ram Head. They placed it under some gorse for shelter 100 meters from Declan’s well. (51.9427995, -7.7159687) Having a keen interest in birds she and her mum looked it up in their bird book but they still weren’t sure of the ID.
They contacted Alan O'Brien with a description of what seamed perfect for little bunting, especially the head markings, size and pink legs. I asked the family if they would be happy to take a look for it again the next day. As can be seen from the photos their hunch that they had found something unusual was absolutely spot on).
