Brandon Creek Area, Private Property: This bird observed from inside cottage with large glass windows. I just happened to be standing looking out. Totally Lucky. First observed as it flew from one side of the yard to the other. It briefly fluttered flycatcher-like over some leaves of the New Zealand Flax hedge it was coming to before landing below it on very short lawn grass. A very clean (no streaking or other marks) and bright bird from this angle. I had a 10-15 seconds view with good light as it faced my location. It then flew back across the yard into a fuchsia bush and disappeared. Reminded me of a small Veery thrush (North American) without spotting on breast. I first thought it was a Common Redstart with its clean lines and underparts. The face, throat, neck, and belly were all clean and unmarked dull white. The eye stood out on the plain face with white eye-ring helping to define it. Bill dark horn or black. When the bird flew with its back to me the bright cinnamon of the longish tail was very pronounced. Tail unmarked. One color. The back and upperwings had a rufous hue all the way to the cap. Robin and Redstart eliminated by clean whitish underparts and by the all cinnamon uppertail and rufous back and wings. No other species come close to this species. No photos. . I continued to watch from the window on and off and then for a solid hour until sunset. Did a few quiet walks around hedgerow playing audio a few times. Observer has seen this species on other occasions and is positive about the ID. (Second County Record)
