When first seen, at long range, I assumed the ostensibly female-like bird that kept close company with the more colourful male was a female, and that they were a pair. It wasn't until later, when I saw the birds in flight that I realised all three were in fact males, the most female-like bird already having moulted into full eclipse plumage, but not yet having re-grown its tail feathers. KM.
