Female Corncrake calling since May 20 in Fawnglass townland, Clare Island, Mayo. That's 15 nights of calling with the exception of maybe 2 wet nights. No males have been heard on Clare Island this summer. They are males on Inis Turk which is just 8K south and one male has been heard calling in Roonagh on the mainland to the east.
The female sound is very different from the male. While it has the same repeated rythemic form it is squeakier! (Sound recorded).
