This is the third year in succession that such hybrids have been recorded there. They could quite easily be overlooked as juvenile Black-headeds, on account of the comparative 'warmth' of their plumage, but they lack Black-headed's distinct light collar, and have more distinctly and evenly pale-edged (gingery-buff rather than the whitish usual in Med) scapulars, tertials and inner greater coverts. The head pattern is a little more B-h Gull-like than Med Gull-like, but the bill is on the heavy side. In flight, the outer primaries are more extensively dark than in Black-headed, but less so than in juvenile Med. Finally, they are being fed by an adult Med, while an onlooking adult Black-headed is repeatedly being driven away by the Med. Both juveniles are HYBRID
