A couple of shots of the best-looking of three putative littoralis Rock Pipts that we saw on Great Saltee on Saturday, this one having been initially located by Kieran Grace and Alyn Walsh. With at least three of the c20 Rock Pipits seen well that day showing the pinkish hue developing on the throat and breast that is considered indicative of Scandinavian littoralis it would seem likely that littoralis is actually a quite common winter visitor (especially considering that many apparently do not acquire any pinkish colour in the spring and are therefore indistinguishable from our native petrosus Rock Pipits).
I would be very interested in hearing of other observations of pinkish-breasted Rock Pipits in Ireland, especially if anyone sees such birds well into the breeding season here, in May and June.
