"I saw an interesting bird bobbing on the sea about a mile from the Fastnet rock yesterday (sept 10th). It was very small and very black and not much larger than a swift. When it took off there was no white showing - just black. It flew low and fast veering about, again just like a swift. I have not seen one previously. I've looked up the internet and I would be prepared to say it was a Black Storm Petrel. I am very much a novice, but I hope it is of interest" Bryan Ahern, Schull
