At about 3:00 p.m. today, I observed a White Stork roosting with a number of gulls (Greater Black-backed and Herring) on the roof of the Trident Hotel by Kinsale harbour. The bird was facing me when I first saw it, sitting down on the peak of the roof. It stretched out its left wing, which I could see was edged in black. I then took a pair of binoculars out of my backpack and could see the bird quite clearly as it stood up, the long, heavy beak, which it rested on its chest, and the long legs. Overall it was a dirty white color, which is one reason it seemed to blend in with the gulls when it was sitting down.
I didn't get a photo, but I'm sending this in as an alert notice in case anybody else should see the bird.
