South Polar Skua

Hi all, a few people have asked me if I could post some annotated photos of the South Polar Skuas off the Bridges the other day. As you know, I didn't actually see the first one, much less photograph it, so for now I have just worked on the bird I saw. It is interesting to see how much the rather strong sunlight at the time adds a bit of complexity to the analysis of the photos. As is so often the case with seabirds, light and distance have a huge bearing on what we see, and especially on what the camera 'sees'. I hope you find these helpful, and that after a few more observations we'll all be able to pick out the true SPS candidates!
