At 10:40hrs this morning I watched two glossy ibises fly east towards me along the shore at Crossfintan (Carnsore Point). When they reached Crossfintan point, they veered out to sea and continued to fly steadily due south for well over a kilometer, but directly into a f.6 southeasterly. Just as they were almost out of scope view, they rose up in the wind, turned and headed directly back, finally dropping into a pool in the reed-beds behind Nethertown beach. They judged the wind a bit too strong I guess and aborted the migration attempt.
